Character Name: Marialena Gonzales (aka Mennah Gonzales)
Age: 79 but looks no older than 20
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Species: Vampire
Coven/Pack/Nomad: Nomadic (for now)
Diet: wild
Hair: Marialena's hair is brown with natural highlights that are not very visible unless if in direct sunlight. Her hair is naturally wavy and reaches a little below her middle back.
Eyes: As a human, her eyes were hazel with a hint of yellow. Now, her eyes are bloody red in color.
Weight: Looks like she weighs 120 pounds.
Height: 5'7"
Overall appearance: Marialena stands at 5’7”. Her oval shaped face is framed by brown curly hair that reaches past her middle back. Her eyes are bloody red and she has long, curled eyelashes. Her lips are neither too big or too small. Marialena has an hour glass body shape, giving her curves women would kill for. Because of her human life when she belly danced and had to stay in shape, Marialena has long legs, toned muscles and a narrow waist.
Personality Strengths:
• Caring: Marialena is a very caring vampire...even to some humans (which then become those in her list she won't feed on). It only takes a persons history for sympathy to develop in Marialena.
• Easy-going: She's very easy to talk to. She doesn't judge by someone's look, rather she judges them by their character.
• Knowledge: Knowledge is Marialena's "best friend". She can talk about anything and everything that has existed or still exists. She loves to talk about religion and culture, even though both really don't apply to her anymore.
Personality Weaknesses:
• Snaps: Even though Marialena has a lot of patience, she can snap if a line is crossed.
• Talking: Sometimes Marialena doesn't know when it's time to shut up, which can be more of a bad than a good thing.
• Romance: When she was human, Marialena could not wait to be married and with kids. It seems like this stuck to her even as a vampire. However, it's not easy as it would have been. She tries to hide this side of her.
Overall Personality: Marialena’s got a caring and calm personality. However, she can snap once her last button is pushed and at that point, she doesn’t realize what she’s doing or what she’s done until she’s calmed down and seen any damage she has made. She is a very regretful person. If she realizes she did something wrong, guilt normally kicks in until she sets things right.
When she’s in a good mood, she’ll be laughing, smiling and talking like there’s no tomorrow. When she’s in a bad mood, she won’t say a word to anyone. She will usually be alone and think to herself when it comes to that.
If bad news reaches Marialena’s ears, the effects can be different depending on the news. If it’s a sad, yet livable change, she can adapt to it. If it’s life-threatening (even though vampires are immortal, that doesn’t mean they can’t be killed) she completely changes. She goes into protective mode (if it’s towards those she cares about) or goes into “you’re messing with the wrong bitch” mode (if it’s towards those she has or developed a hatred or dislike towards them).
Character History: Marialena Gonzales was born with the name Mennah Gonzales in Cairo, Egypt in 1931. Her mother, Isis, was Egyptian. Her father, Daniel, was Spaniard. She grew up in the desert-like place until she was 20. Back then in Egypt, most children did not go to school, but Mennah’s father insisted his daughter get an education. Since Mennah began school, she realized she loved to learn. She loved to read, write and learn new things about anything. It became a passion for her.
Mennah lived a peaceful childhood. She was obedient, smart, always helped around the house and made sure to have time for her studies. She didn’t have many friends, since most of the girls in the town she lived in envied her for her knowledge.
When Mennah turned 10, she welcomed her little brother, Naveen Alexander. Mennah thought it her duty to teach her little brother what she knew that she learned in school and more. As he grew up, she showed him new things, making sure he understood what she said, the explanations to some problems and why it was important to know how to read and write.
At the age of 18, Mennah told her father that she was ready to marry. In her mother’s culture, arranged marriages were the way to go. But Mennah’s father disagreed because Isis had married Daniel for love. He wanted the same for his daughter. So two years later, when Mennah was 20, they traveled from Egypt to Spain by sea for Mennah wanted to see her father’s country and perhaps find love there.
When they were half-way through the journey, news went around the ship that people were missing. The people on board began to fear the unknown. One night, Mennah had been sleeping in her cabin when the sound of the door squeaking awoke her from her sleep. She sat up against the wall from her cot and saw two tall black shadows coming towards her. She screamed as the two shadows disappeared for a split second and reappeared at both sides of her bed. One of the shadows held her down and then she felt something sinking sharply into right shoulder. At that moment, the door swung open and some of the people on board, including her mother and father, ran into the cabin to help her. Except, Mennah stayed on the cot and a burning sensation ran through her veins, through her body.
It felt like she was dying, like her body had been consumed in fire. She didn’t know what was going on or what had happened. All she could hear were screams. It had suddenly gone quiet. It seemed like minutes rolled into hours and hours rolled into days and weeks and into forever. Then finally, she opened her eyes. She brought her hand to her throat when it felt rough and scratchy. She got out of the bed only to feel thick, cold liquid at her feet. Mennah looked down and it was a pool of blood. Her mouth dropped open and she snapped and licked the floor dry, following the trail to the human nearby. Before she knew it, she reached her dad. Lifeless. Dead. She closed her eyes. The sudden want of blood faded away. She wondered what she was doing drinking blood and thought it odd that her body wanted it. She got up, and walked out of the cabin and pieces of the past few moments or days rushed through her mind.
Passing a mirror down the hall, Mennah turned to see her reflection. She gasped at she realized it was not her, but it was her. What was she? She touched her face and she traced the blood streaks. Her eyes were red. Not from crying, but bright red. Thinking, she knew that her dad was dead but she wondered if her mom and brother were too? She went on a search for them on the ship, but after an hour, she didn’t find them. She was the only thing alive on the ship. She did the first thing that came to her mind…she got on deck and jumped off the ship.
But…she didn’t die? Frustrated, Mennah swam hundreds of miles to find land and somehow ended up in Washington. Where later, she found others like herself. She knew what she was now and somehow accepted this new fate. So she started life alone again…as Marialena Gonzales.
When she can no longer control her thirst, Marialena lets her body and temptation take control. She enjoys men the most, for their blood pumps faster when they see her “coming at” them and their blood is thicker compared to a woman. But she never goes near children, for they remind her of her little brother.
Over the years, Marialena came to meet a lot of others like her and was told to watch out for the Volturi. Curious on who the Volturi were, Marialena went to Italy in search for answers to questions only she could find there. After personally meeting one of the Volturi guards who kindly answered her questions, she became aware that they were the most powerful vampires on this planet. Before she left, the guard said, “The only time someone like us comes here, it is only for one request. To die.”
Marialena left back to Washington, hoping to start life over from the start and perhaps make friends that she wouldn't want to eat.
Power: None.
Anything else about your charrie we need to know?: Hmm...I might want her to die during the big war coming up...I'm not sure though.
Roleplay Sample:
Hmm...this is a pretty place. Pretty place indeed. The moon was right above, in the middle of the sky, lighting up the ground with a white glow only seen and heard of in fairytales. Marialena took off her scarf that she used to cloak her hair in respect to God's commandments to Muslims. But she was alone, so she didn't need it on. She scene before her reminded her of the story her father used to tell her when she was a little girl about the Prince and the beautiful Princess. Of course, the prince was really her father and the princess was her mother. Her father had told her how the Prince had to accept and change his beliefs in order to marry the Princess. "Order from the King" were the words her father had used. But Marialena knew the reason why her father had converted, it was only because he loved Isis, her mother, and believed in God.
It was strange that this place reminded her of the setting her father described to her in the story, the place the Prince and the Princess had first met. And it was strange how little things reminded her of her happy childhood memories, when her father would tell her stories of dragons, magic and fairytales. She took a breath of the fresh air, only to find the scent of a human nearby. Who would be in the woods at a time like this?
Even though Marialena fed on humans, they weren't just any humans. They had to be worthless humans who did not deserve life. Most of them were men who were wanted for physical assualts to women and children. Marialena could not stand seeing a man hurt a woman or a child. It was one of those things that ticked her off and made her protect defensless women and children. She followed the trail where the scent came from which led her to a river where a man crouched near the riverbank. His attire brought back the poster she had passed by earlier that day in town of a man being "WANTED" for killing and raping a 9 year old girl.
Marialena's fury rose. This guy must have fled from the town and was probably taking a rest before continuing escaping. But no...his journey has now come to an end.
